Abstract
Die Studie untersucht individuelle Erträge von Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen “on-the-job“ in Westdeutschland für den Zeitraum 1984 – 2002. Die Analyse erfolgt differenziert nach Betriebsgröße (KMU's vs. Großbetriebe) und Alter der Erwerbstätigen. Als Indikatoren für individuelle Erträge von Weiterbildungsinvestitionen “on-the-job“ werden die subjektive Bewertung der Maßnahme durch die Teilnehmer, das reale Bruttomonatseinkommen und individuelle Karrierechancen genutzt. Kausale Erträge von Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen finden sich vorwiegend für Erwerbstätige in Großbetrieben.
This study analyses the individual returns of further “on the job“ training (OJT) in western Germany from 1984 to 2002. More specifically, the empirical work examines whether causal returns from OJT vary across firm size and age. The proxies used to measure individual returns from OJT are the subjective assessments by training participants, the real monthly gross income and individual career prospects. Causal returns to further OJT are found mainly for employees working in large establishments.
