Abstract

Der Beitrag analysiert neuere Konzepte der Altenhilfe, die auf gesellschaftliche “Teilhabe“ als Leitkriterium zielen. Ausgehend von Bourdieus Theorie sozialer Felder werden Bewohner, Pflegepersonal und Trägervertreter als Akteursgruppen mit unterschiedlichen Kapitalausstattungen charakterisiert. Mithilfe einer Diskursanalyse werden Hypothesen entwickelt, welche den Einfluss dieser Gruppen auf Teilhabe-Konzepte erkennen lassen. Gezeigt wird, dass sich die Durchsetzung neuer Leitbegriffe und Konzepte keinesfalls nur auf fachliche Evidenzen oder veränderte Rahmenbedingungen zurückführen lässt, sondern nicht zuletzt auf Konkurrenz- und Kooperationsbeziehungen zwischen den beteiligten Gruppen und auf deren unterschiedliche Chancen, ihre Prioritäten diskursiv geltend zu machen.

Social Participation as a Concept of Old Age Care: Conflicts among Owner Organizations in a Heterogeneous Field

The article analyses recent conceptualizations of old age care that aim at social participation (‘Teilhabe’). Based on Bourdieu's theory of social fields, inhabitants of nursing homes, nursing staff and members of owner organizations are characterized with regards to their prevailing forms of social capital. Based on discourse analysis, hypotheses are generated. These indicate the influence of these groups on concepts of social participation. The thesis is that the ability to create a consensus around new concepts of social work does not only depend upon systematic evidence and changed circumstances, but also upon competition and co-operation amongst the involved groups and upon their varying chances to achieve their priorities.
