Starting from the general objective of the Equal Opportunities Act, or Allgemeine Gleichbehandlungsgesetz (AGG), that seeks to eliminate the direct and indirect unequal treatment of men and women, this article considers the specific regulations for calculating superannuation contributions in pension and life insurance schemes. In so doing, it also considers other important laws which affect these calculations, particularly for occupational and private pension contracts. Finally, it will be shown that the regulations of the AGG – concerning both specific types of occupational pension schemes and the types of private pension schemes doesn't lead to a change of actuarial calculation since the Old Age Pensions-Certification Law, or Altersvorsorgeverträge-Zertifizierungsgesetz (AltZertG) was amended in 2004.
