Abstract
Transition at a Glance – About the Challenges of a Market-based Access to Vocational Education and Training
This article gives an overview over previous research on transition from school to the dual system of vocational education and training (VET). Under reference to the theoretical resources model of transition from school to VET by Eberhard the institutional conditions of access to VET are highlighted. They strongly determine what kind of young people's resources or their social network's resources are relevant to gain access to VET. Previous research results are discussed and it is shown which factors can lead to disadvantages in the transition process, but also how transition to VET can be improved for young people.
