Abstract
Civic Education as Constitutional Requirement. Or: Pedagogical Requirements and Overburdening in Times of Right-Wing Populism
With the entry of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) into the German Bundestag and all 16 state parliaments, right-wing populist positions have become socially and politically acceptable, not only in parliament. When "concerned citizens" claim on the street, on the Internet and in letters to the editor that they are "the people" and agitate against "the" politicians and "the" journalists, whose representatives they brand as "traitors to the people" or "the lying press," these slogans are also echoed in schools. A growing number of young people are attracted by positions that emphasize narrow-mindedness instead of enlightenment, vulgarity instead of culture, intolerance instead of tolerance, and isolation instead of openness.
