Abstract
The impact of the scientific articles of German-speaking economists
I test the hypothesis that English yields a higher impact to the scientific articles of German-speaking economists than German. English in the bilingual journals doesn't increase the impact, it does do so insignificantly in the marginal monolingual journals and significantly in the core journals. In all marginal monolingual journals and in all language areas, except their own one, the German speaking economists get the lowest or second lowest citation rates. In the German language area the German speaking economists get lower citation rates than the Americans in the American, the British in the British language area.
