Abstract
The present contribution deals with the mutual relationship between economics and psychology. Suggestions towards „psychological economics" and „economic psychology" have been made in both directions: Since a long time, scientists in economics have tried to supplement or even substitute the narrowness of economic rational theory by psychological behavioral concepts though at the same time loosing connexion with psychology as a science. Inversely, scientific psychologists have tried to apply psychological concepts to economic issues without being able to reduce the unrelatedness of the two branches of science. In the survey submitted here, an attempt is made to strive against a divergent development like this by starting with economic psychology and its basic concepts, methods, and theories and examining them in their relation to economics. Following a brief discussion of some fundamental economicpsychological processes, the most salient problems and findings of economic psychology are presented, each of them both from a macroeconomic and a microeconomic point of view.
