Abstract
This essay raises relevant questions on the topic of “The War over Ukraine”. First, methodological challenges are addressed, then facts can be collected and initial findings recorded. Then key terms are defined and theses with further findings are formulated in a conclusion. The following questions are addressed: What causes and occasions led to the expansion of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which has already existed since 2014? Was the expansion of this war avoidable and which previously existing Western views of Russia have thus failed? What is the imperial-historical and global power-political context in the course of the all-out war against Ukraine? What are the results of the course of the war so far? What consequences are discernible, also with regard to winners and losers, as well as to a first overall assessment?
