Abstract
Der Beitrag zeigt auf, welchen Erkenntnisgewinn verschiedene soziologische Theorieperspektiven für die Analyse von – in einem Forschungsprojekt untersuchten – Handlungs- und Sichtweisen von Menschen im Museum liefern. In den Blick genommen wird erstens eine differenzierungstheoretische Sicht, die für den Umgang von Ausstellungsmachern mit unterschiedlichen teilsystemischen Eigenlogiken sensibilisiert. Zweitens zeigt ein individualisierungstheoretisch orientiertes Konzept, dass Eventisierungsstrategien zwar ein weitgehend souveränes Publikum postulieren, zugleich aber mit einer deutlichen Publikumslenkung einhergehen. Schließlich ermöglicht es die Unterscheidung von Inszenierungs- und (statusanzeigenden) Distinktionsgelegenheiten, Ungleichheitseffekte im Museum interaktionstheoretisch zu hinterfragen.
The article discusses how different theoretical perspectives support an understanding of activities and views of people in museums, which were explored in a research project. The theory of differentiation provides the first perspective; it raises awareness for the exhibitors’ handlings with different logics of specific subsystems. Second, referring to the concept of individualization, the article shows that strategies of eventization claim a sovereign public, but often go along with a considerable steering of visitors at the same time. Finally, it is possible to analyze effects of social inequality in museums by concepts of interaction, differentiating between opportunities of performance and those of (status-indicating) distinction.
