Abstract
Ein Blick auf die Geschichte der bundesdeutschen Vermögenspolitik zeigt, dass sie gerade in ihren Anfängen maßgeblich von sozialkatholischen und -protestantischen Initiativen beeinflusst wurde. So trugen beide Kirchen, Theologen sowie konfessionell geprägte Ökonomen in den ersten Jahrzehnten nach Kriegsende dazu bei, dass bundesweit um eine gerechte Eigentumsverteilung debattiert wurde. Unter dem Leitgedanken “Eigentumsbildung in Arbeiterhand“ konnte dabei vor allem die Idee des Investivlohns für Aufsehen sorgen. Seit den 1970er Jahren nahmen kirchliche Vorschläge allerdings einen geringer werdenden Stellenwert in der Vermögenspolitik ein. Trotz des erneuten Aufkeimens der Debatte Anfang der 1990er sind die vermögenspolitischen Stimmen der Kirchen mittlerweile verstummt.
Fair Distribution of Wealth – A Muted Discourse of the Churches?
A look at the history of Western German asset policy shows that in its beginnings, it was significantly influenced by Catholic and Protestant social initiatives. In the first decades after the end of the Second World War, the Catholic as well as the Protestant church in Germany, theologians and confessionally inclined economists contributed to a nationwide debate over a fair distribution of wealth. Notably, the concept of the ‘investment wage’ that followed the guiding principal of ‘employee-owned capital accumulation’ gained political significance. Since the 1970s, however, church proposals have become less important in asset policy. Despite the resurface of the debate in the early 1990s, church statements regarding asset policy are by now absent.
